Developed in collaboration with jazz greats Andy Martin and Wycliffe Gordon, the Yamaha YSL-891Z Custom Z Trombone is a professional-level instrument designed for tonal flexibility and dynamic performance. Crafted with a yellow brass bell and finished in gold lacquer, it offers a brilliant tone with excellent projection — perfect for the demands of jazz, big band, studio, and solo work.
One of its standout features is the inclusion of two interchangeable leadpipes, allowing players to tailor the response and tone to their musical needs. The NY leadpipe is longer with a broader taper, producing a rich, deep tone ideal for large venues and fortissimo passages, while the LA leadpipe is shorter with a gentler taper, offering quick response and a bright, focused sound suited for studio or live club settings. This versatility makes the YSL-891Z a truly adaptive instrument for professional trombonists.
Additional premium touches include a perfectly balanced design, a chrome-plated nickel-silver inner slide for durability and smooth action, and a one-piece yellow brass bell that delivers uniform resonance and superior tonal clarity. The trombone comes with a Yamaha SL-45C2S mouthpiece and a fitted SLC-891Z hardshell case for safe transport and storage. Available now at Haggerty’s Music, where quality instruments meet exceptional customer service!
