Sales Person (full-time, in-person)

Description of Role

The Sales Person is a key member of Haggerty’s Music’s retail team, responsible for creating a welcoming, knowledgeable, and exceptional experience for every customer who walks through our doors. This role helps musicians at all levels find the right gear, answers product questions, and shares the story behind the brands and products we carry.

We’re seeking someone who is a dynamic self-starter - the kind of person who jumps in, keeps the shop looking sharp, stays in the know about new products, knows how to create a story around a customer's needs and brings great energy to every customer interaction.

Description of Organization

Haggerty’s Music is a locally owned music store in Rapid City, South Dakota, dedicated to serving our local community and musicians from all walks of life. We focus on quality instruments and gear, honest information, and a high level of customer service. Our team is collaborative, fast-paced, and passionate about guitars, gear, and all things music.

The Sales Person plays a central role in representing Haggerty’s on the sales floor and ensuring our customers feel supported, informed, and excited about their experience in the store.

Key Activities, Responsibilities and Duties

  • Greet customers and create a welcoming, friendly in-store environment

  • Listen to customers’ needs and help them find the right instruments and gear

  • Answer product questions clearly and confidently

  • Share the story and key features of the brands and products we carry

  • Offer thoughtful guidance and recommendations without “hard sell” tactics

  • Stay up to date on new products, promotions, and inventory

  • Maintain a clean, organized, and visually appealing sales floor

  • Keep the shop looking sharp by straightening displays, restocking, and tidying as needed

  • Work collaboratively with other team members to support store goals and the overall customer experience

  • Represent Haggerty’s values of service, community, and a genuine passion for music

Qualifications

Required

  • Sales experience

  • Dynamic, self-starting attitude with a strong customer focus

  • Detail-oriented, reliable, and professional

  • Enthusiastic about working in a fast-paced retail environment

  • Comfortable talking with customers and building relationships

  • Able to work full-time, in person, 5 days per week including Saturdays (store hours: Monday–Saturday, 9am–6pm MT)

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills

  • Willingness to learn about products, brands, and the needs of different types of musicians

Preferred

  • Retail experience

  • Customer service experience

  • Passion for music and musical instruments

  • Familiarity with guitars, amps, pedals, band/orchestra instruments, or related gear

eCommerce Assistant (full-time, in-person)

Description of Role

The eCommerce Assistant supports Haggerty’s Music’s growing multi-channel retail operation by helping keep product inventory organized, accurate, and moving efficiently across online platforms such as Reverb, Amazon, and other marketplaces as we continue to expand.

This is a computer-heavy, office-based role with some light warehousing tasks as needed, but it is not a warehouse position. Success in this role means maintaining clean, reliable data in our systems so customers and staff can trust what they see online and inventory flows smoothly.

Our team is collaborative, fast-paced, and passionate about guitars, gear, and all things music.

The eCommerce Assistant is an essential part of our back-end operations, helping ensure accuracy across platforms and supporting the systems that keep our online sales channels running efficiently.

Key Activities, Responsibilities, and Duties

  • Maintain accurate inventory and product data across online platforms, including Reverb, Amazon, and other marketplaces.

  • Enter, update, and verify inventory information in internal systems, spreadsheets, and digital tools.

  • Support rolling inventory counts, binning upkeep, and the identification and correction of discrepancies.

  • Perform basic reorders for key vendors.

  • Update price lists and assist with general ordering workflows.

  • Manage marketplace maintenance tasks, including updating, combining, saving, and relisting items, as well as writing transaction reviews.

  • Provide customer support by gathering measurements, additional photos, or product details as requested.

  • Support marketplace maintenance by relinking or deleting listings to maintain accurate and compliant catalog data.

  • Contribute to overall office operations, including upkeep of the phone auto-assistant and other digital tools essential to daily workflow.

  • Collaborate with team members to ensure smooth communication between sales, office, and warehouse functions.

Qualifications

Required

  • Very comfortable working with computer systems and managing data

  • Experience with Microsoft Excel, Power BI, or Google Sheets

  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy

  • Reliable, organized, and able to work independently once trained

  • Eager to contribute to a fast-paced, collaborative team environment

  • Ability to work full-time, in person, 5 days per week including Saturdays (store hours: Monday–Saturday, 9am–6pm MT)

Preferred

  • Some retail or customer service experience

  • Experience working with or around inventory

  • Interest in guitars, gear, and musical instruments

  • Familiarity with online marketplaces (Reverb, Amazon, Shopify)
