Built around an innovative dual-feedback design developed by Walrus Audio’s DSP engineers, the Fable runs your signal through two effects in series before feeding it back through both again, creating layers of sound that evolve with every repeat. The results range from smooth, atmospheric washes and organic, reverberant clouds to shimmering octave cascades, deep, rumbling echoes, and unpredictable glitch-like bursts. Five distinct modes explore different combinations of delay and granular processing, giving you an expansive palette for ambient passages, experimental sound design, cinematic builds, and moments when you want your instrument to become something entirely new.

At the heart of the Walrus Audio Fable Granular Soundscape Generator is granular processing, a technique that breaks audio into tiny samples called grains and reshapes them through changes in playback speed, direction, position, and length. Each mode approaches this process differently, from reversed delays that tumble into themselves and bright, octave-up swarms to dark, slowed-down repeats and multi-tap textures that bloom into unusual, organic reverberation. The randomized pitch mode adds another layer of unpredictability, shifting individual grains between different speeds and playback directions for sounds that never quite repeat the same way twice. Dedicated Feedback and Regen controls let you shape the intensity and complexity of the effect, while the multifunction Tweak control opens up adjustments for stereo width, modulation rate and shape, pitch shifting, and the speed of the pedal’s expressive Dive and Rise effect. A quick press of the Tweak button selects the parameter you want to shape, keeping an intricate range of sounds within easy reach.

For players who want deep creative control without sacrificing performance flexibility, the Walrus Audio Fable Granular Soundscape Generator offers onboard storage for three presets, a live mode for hands-on experimentation, and access to 127 additional presets through MIDI. MIDI control extends to the pedal’s knobs, mode selection, bypass, and tap functions, while the expression input can be assigned to any knob or configured for external tap tempo.
