A great small-bodied acoustic should reward a player's lightest touch without giving up richness or authority, and the Taylor Next Generation K22ce 12-Fret Special Edition takes that idea into distinctly modern territory. The K22ce has long represented the compact Grand Concert side of Taylor's koa-focused Koa Series, combining Hawaiian koa's unmistakable visual character with the responsive feel favored by fingerstyle players and recording musicians. This Special Edition brings that heritage into Taylor's Next Generation era, combining an all-koa Grand Concert body and 12-fret configuration with Scalloped V-Class bracing, the Action Control Neck, and Claria electronics.

Select Hawaiian koa is used for the top, back, and sides, giving the guitar a voice that balances crisp articulation with a strong midrange presence and warm, focused lows. Koa is known for developing greater warmth and openness with continued playing, making an all-koa instrument especially interesting as a long-term musical companion. Taylor's Scalloped V-Class architecture complements that character by adding a fuller low-end response and a warmer blend between notes while retaining the sustain, balance, and definition associated with V-Class construction. Combined with the Grand Concert body's controlled dimensions and the deeper character of its 12-fret configuration, the result is particularly well suited to fingerstyle, singer-songwriter material, folk, contemporary acoustic music, light flatpicking, alternate tunings, and studio work where clarity and separation are important.

The playing and amplified experience is equally forward-looking. A Standard Carve neo-tropical mahogany neck and Crelicam ebony fingerboard provide the familiar smooth Taylor feel, while the Action Control Neck allows the neck angle, and consequently the playing action, to be adjusted without a traditional neck reset.  For amplification, Taylor's Claria system uses an undersaddle transducer and soundhole-mounted Volume, Tone, and Mid-Contour controls to provide a focused, plug-and-play representation of the guitar's acoustic character. Together, these features make the K22ce Special Edition an appealing meeting point between Taylor's established Grand Concert and koa traditions and the company's latest approach to acoustic construction, serviceability, and stage performance.
