Part of Taylor’s acclaimed Catch Custom program, this C52ce 12-string represents the pinnacle of craftsmanship, creativity, and collector-grade artistry. Debuted at NAMM 2025 as part of the "Catch Custom" collection, this guitar — affectionately known as the “Windward Coast” — was hand-selected by Taylor’s top builders and design team to showcase the absolute best of their custom shop. The Catch Custom initiative allows luthiers to push aesthetic and tonal boundaries while capturing fleeting wood sets and experimental design ideas.

Visually arresting and sonically inspiring, this “Windward Coast” model features a stunning 4-piece back of highly figured quilted Big Leaf maple with a Simons wedge of bookmatched Hawaiian koa — a rare and beautiful construction reserved for special builds. The sides and neck are treated with a translucent light blue color wash, while the Lutz spruce top wears a matching shaded edgeburst, all wrapped in a full-body gloss finish. Appointments are equally refined, including koa binding, a koa single-ring rosette, spiked oval fretboard inlays in koa and paua, and a koa peghead veneer, all framed in paua shell edge trim.

Tonally, the pairing of quilted maple and Lutz spruce offers a shimmering, articulate voice with excellent note separation, sparkle, and volume — ideal for players who demand clarity across complex 12-string chord voicings. The Grand Concert body, combined with a 12-fret neck join and Taylor’s revolutionary V-Class bracing, yields an exceptionally responsive instrument with a warm, blooming character and enhanced harmonic alignment. The shorter 24-7/8" scale and slim neck carve make this 12-string feel almost effortless to play — a rarity in its class.
