The Reverend Mercalli 5 FM is built for players who want the authority of a modern five-string with the warmth and character of a vintage instrument — and without sacrificing clarity or punch. Reverend designed the Mercalli 5 to solve a common problem in extended-range basses: how to make the low B string feel tight, focused, and musical rather than muddy. The result is a bass that delivers massive low-end depth while maintaining articulation and definition across the entire fretboard. Finished in Coffee Burst over a korina body, it looks as rich as it sounds.

At the heart of the Mercalli 5 is Reverend’s thoughtfully engineered platform: a highly resonant korina (white limba) body, a five-piece roasted maple/walnut neck for enhanced stability, and a high-mass bridge that maximizes sustain and note clarity. The 34" scale keeps the feel familiar while ensuring strong string tension and punch, and the ebony fingerboard adds snap and attack. Whether you’re laying down gospel grooves, modern rock lines, funk slap passages, or tight progressive metal riffs, this bass responds with authority and balance.

Reverend’s proprietary Thick Brick 5 (bridge) and Split Brick 5 (neck) pickups provide a wide tonal palette, controlled by a simple yet powerful layout: Volume, Tone, and Pickup Pan.
