When a player wants the versatility of the guitar that helped define PRS while owning something that stands apart even among premium Custom 24s, the Birds of a Feather Limited Edition model brings those two ideas together. Limited to just 360 instruments across three finishes worldwide for 2026, this special Custom 24 brings a distinctive inlay concept previously reserved for Private Stock to one of PRS's most important designs. Its Artist Grade figured maple top, Charcoal Microburst finish, mahogany back, and intricate Birds of a Feather fingerboard create a striking interpretation of the familiar Custom 24.
The Birds of a Feather design was created by PRS Director of Manufacturing and Private Stock head Paul Miles approximately a decade ago, using contrasting woods to create a sense of movement and open space while remaining recognizable from across a stage. Here, that concept stretches across an ebony and figured maple fingerboard, turning the company's familiar bird motif into a more elaborate visual composition. A Pre-Factory Eagle headstock logo provides another distinctive touch, while the Artist Grade figured maple top and traditional violin carve give the guitar the dimensional character associated with upper-tier PRS instruments.
Underneath the limited-edition appointments is the musical foundation that has made the Custom 24 a modern classic. Its one-piece Pattern Thin mahogany neck, 25" scale, 24-fret layout, and 10" fingerboard radius provide the fast, familiar feel associated with the model, while the mahogany back and figured maple top combine warmth and body with articulation and definition. The PRS Gen III tremolo and Phase III locking tuners with Wing buttons are designed to support tuning stability and resonance, making this an instrument intended to be played rather than simply admired.
A pair of PRS DMO pickups completes the guitar's performance-focused character. Short for "Dynamic, Musical, Open," the DMO design emphasizes clarity, balance, and a vocal quality, while the five-way blade provides a broad palette ranging from full humbucking sounds to more open, single-coil-inspired textures. That flexibility makes the Birds of a Feather Custom 24 equally compelling for rock, progressive music, blues, fusion, pop, studio work, and players who need one instrument to cover dramatically different sounds. One of only 360, this guitar brings together the versatility of the Custom 24, the visual language of Private Stock, and the exclusivity of a genuinely limited PRS release. Available now at Haggerty’s Music, this limited-edition beauty ships with a sturdy hardshell case.
