For the guitarist who wants the sweeping movement of a classic analog flanger without a complicated control layout taking attention away from playing, this used MXR Micro Flanger distills one of the company's benchmark modulation sounds into a compact two-knob pedal. The Micro Flanger traces its lineage to the larger MXR M117 Flanger, adapting that pedal's unmistakable swirling character into a simpler format that originally appeared during the 1980s. Its 100% analog bucket-brigade circuitry preserves the warm, organic quality associated with vintage flanging, while the streamlined Rate and Regeneration controls make everything from slow, spacious movement to dramatic jet-like sweeps easy to dial in.

The Rate control adjusts the speed of the modulation from 0.2 Hz to 5.5 Hz, while Regeneration determines the amount of feedback and therefore the intensity of the effect. At restrained settings, the Micro Flanger can add subtle motion and dimension to clean chords, arpeggios, and rhythm parts; pushed harder, it delivers pronounced swooshes, metallic sweeps, and spacey modulation well suited to psychedelic rock, classic rock, alternative, funk, experimental music, and heavily effected lead sounds. True hardwire bypass keeps the pedal out of the signal path when disengaged, and its straightforward mono input/output arrangement makes it equally easy to use on its own or integrate into a larger pedalboard.
