Players looking for the intimacy and responsiveness of a smaller acoustic without sacrificing projection or stage capability will find the Martin 00L-16E an especially compelling addition to the refreshed 16 Series. Its sloped-shoulder 00L body draws on the understated character of vintage acoustics while the dramatic Black Smoke gives it a distinctly cool, dramatic appearance. The compact proportions make it comfortable for long writing sessions, couch playing, recording, and performance, yet its voice has enough presence to reach beyond what its dimensions might suggest.
A gloss spruce top paired with solid mahogany back and sides gives the 00L-16E a focused, woody personality. Scalloped X-bracing encourages the top to respond with sustain and dynamic range, while mahogany contributes punchy mids, defined trebles, and a controlled low end that can sit beautifully beneath vocals or alongside other instruments. The sloped-shoulder 00 body is particularly at home with fingerstyle, light-to-medium strumming, blues, folk, Americana, and singer-songwriter material, responding readily to changes in picking attack instead of requiring a heavy hand to come alive. Its 24.9" scale also provides a slightly more relaxed string feel that complements the guitar's intimate character.
A Modified Low Oval select-hardwood neck and ebony fingerboard give the 00L-16E a familiar, comfortable playing platform, while the 1.75" nut width provides useful room for fingerstyle work and intricate chord voicings. Grover nickel open-gear tuners, an ebony bridge, bone saddle, grained ivoroid pickguard, and 1955 Style 18 fingerboard inlays reinforce its restrained vintage aesthetic. When amplification is needed, the onboard L.R. Baggs Element system makes the guitar equally practical for live performance and recording applications. Strung with Martin Era Treated Legacy Medium strings, the 00L-16E brings together vintage-inspired style, compact-body responsiveness, and modern stage utility in a guitar designed to serve both the songwriter and the working musician. Available now at Haggerty's Music, this 2026 00L-16E includes a softshell gig bag for convenient transport and protection.

How accurate are your condition descriptions?
We treat condition grading as a contractual promise, not an approximation. When we list something as excellent, that reflects a specific, consistent standard we apply across every instrument.
