This Martin Custom Shop OM-28 represents the pinnacle of fine American guitar craftsmanship — an instrument that pays tribute to over a century of Martin tradition while offering modern refinement and tonal sophistication. At its core, this guitar draws from the heritage of the legendary Style 28, a design lineage first appearing in the 1850s and long associated with the world’s most balanced and expressive steel-string acoustics. The Style 28’s signature pairing of spruce and rosewood (or, in this case, exotic cocobolo) has earned a reputation for its clear articulation, full low end, and shimmering highs. Adorned with fingerboard inlays in the spirit of Style 42 — a style first introduced in the 1800s for Martin’s most ornate and desirable models — this custom creation merges two of Martin’s most revered design traditions into a single, exquisite instrument.
Built from premium tonewoods and constructed using traditional hide glue throughout, the attention to detail on this OM-28 is second to none. The top is crafted from Adirondack spruce, one of the most dynamic and responsive soundboard materials that Martin offers, and paired with cocobolo back and sides that deliver remarkable depth, sustain, and piano-like clarity. Scalloped Adirondack bracing enhances the top’s responsiveness, while European flamed maple binding and fine herringbone purfling add a touch of understated elegance. The result is a guitar that feels alive under the player’s hands — sensitive to the lightest touch, yet powerful and articulate when driven hard — and it’s available right now at Haggerty’s Music.
Ideal for fingerstyle, folk, and light strumming, this OM-28 excels in genres that value nuance, harmonic detail, and expressive dynamics. Its Performing Artist neck profile provides modern comfort for intricate chord voicings and melodic passages, while the dovetail neck joint and hide-glued bracing maximize resonance and sustain. Whether on stage, in the studio, or in the hands of a discerning collector, this Martin Custom Shop OM-28 stands as a masterwork of design, tone, and tradition — a timeless instrument built to inspire for generations.

How accurate are your condition descriptions?
We treat condition grading as a contractual promise, not an approximation. When we list something as excellent, that reflects a specific, consistent standard we apply across every instrument.
