The Martin Custom Shop OM Quilted Maple is more than just a visually arresting instrument — it's a showcase of Martin’s unrivaled luthiery, decades of tonewood expertise, and a celebration of custom craftsmanship. Hand-built in Nazareth, Pennsylvania, this Custom Shop model channels the precision, attention to detail, and artistry that have long defined Martin's elite-tier guitars. Martin’s Custom Shop allows players and collectors to go beyond traditional specs, offering rare tonewoods, custom finishes, ornate inlays, and vintage-inspired bracing patterns to create instruments that are as singular as the musicians who play them. This particular model, with its AAA-grade deep quilted maple top, back, and sides, is an extraordinary example of how Martin blends aesthetics and sonic excellence into a single, heirloom-quality guitar.
Quilted maple is among the rarest and most visually stunning tonewoods in existence, known for its rippling, three-dimensional grain patterns that catch the light and shimmer with movement. The “deep quilt” grade used on this model is extremely scarce and prized by both luthiers and collectors. Sonically, maple offers a unique voice: crisp, immediate, and clear, with strong note separation and a quick response that makes it ideal for fingerstyle and flatpicking alike. Unlike rosewood or mahogany, maple tends to emphasize midrange presence and treble clarity, making it perfect for genres such as folk, acoustic blues, jazz, or any context where articulation and balance are key. The pairing of this striking maple with Golden Era scalloped X-bracing gives the instrument a surprising warmth and dynamic responsiveness that complements its natural brightness.
The 000 (Auditorium) body shape sits comfortably between the smaller 00 and larger dreadnought, striking a perfect balance between projection and playability. Its smaller waist and shallow depth provide a snug fit for players who want comfort without sacrificing tonal presence. This model also features Martin’s GE Modified Low Oval neck profile with High-Performance Taper, paired with a 2-piece flamed maple neck, which not only continues the visual theme but also adds stability and sustain. The ebony fingerboard is adorned with a Paua Alternate Torch inlay, further adding to the guitar’s upscale, custom-built identity.
This guitar is ideal for the discerning player or collector who wants something beyond the norm — something that both sounds exquisite and looks exceptional. Available now at Haggerty’s Music, it’s a concert-ready instrument that will easily hold its own in the studio, on stage, or in a curated collection. Whether you’re crafting delicate fingerpicked arrangements or leading a band with strong rhythmic strumming, the Martin Custom Shop 000 Quilted Maple delivers elegance, inspiration, and craftsmanship in every note. Packed with visual and sonic beauty, this custom shop acoustic ships with a premium hardshell case.
