This Martin Custom Shop 00 12-Fret is a masterful blend of artistry, tone, and tradition, crafted for players who demand a truly special instrument. Built in Martin’s Custom Shop, this 00-size guitar offers the intimate comfort of a 12-fret neck while providing the responsive voice and dynamic range that Martin guitars are celebrated for. Every detail of this guitar reflects meticulous craftsmanship, from the hand-scalloped spruce bracing to the precision dovetail neck joint, ensuring an instrument that feels effortless under the fingers and sings with clarity across the tonal spectrum. Its all-koa construction gives it a distinctive warmth and complexity, offering both a visually stunning figure and a rich, balanced tonal palette that responds beautifully to fingerstyle and light strumming.
The Exceptional Broad Figured Koa is more than just visually striking; it’s prized for its tonal character, combining the warmth and midrange focus of mahogany with the bright, clear articulation often associated with maple. Martin carefully selects each piece of koa to ensure consistent resonance and aesthetic excellence, and the hand-scalloped spruce bracing allows the top to vibrate freely for enhanced projection and dynamic response. The 00 body style provides a clear, focused tone with immediate note definition, while the 12-fret neck positions the bridge closer to the player for a more intimate connection to the instrument’s voice. Whether in the studio or on stage, this guitar delivers a tone that is both articulate and expressive, with a natural complexity that only hand-selected koa can provide.
The guitar features a select hardwood neck finished in a GE Modified Low Oval profile with a High-Performance Taper, offering smooth playability and comfort across all registers. Its ebony fingerboard and modern belly bridge are enhanced with elegant abalone inlays and ivory-color bindings, marrying refined aesthetics with functional design. The 1-3/4” nut and 24.9” scale length provide a familiar, balanced feel, while the satin finish on the neck and gloss finish on the body combine to create a sleek, tactile experience that encourages hours of expressive playing. Every component, from the bone nut and saddle to the vintage-style Grover gold tuners, has been chosen to optimize tone, tuning stability, and visual appeal.
Completing the package, Martin’s attention to detail extends to the hardshell case that accompanies the guitar, providing protection worthy of a Custom Shop instrument. The 00 12-Fret Custom Shop Koa offers players an heirloom-quality instrument that celebrates Martin’s heritage while pushing the boundaries of tonal richness, aesthetic beauty, and playability. With its luminous figured koa top, back, and sides, hand-scalloped bracing, and meticulous Custom Shop craftsmanship, this guitar is as much a visual masterpiece as it is a finely tuned musical instrument, ideal for discerning players seeking a unique, expressive voice that stands out in both sound and style.
