For the guitarist who loves the stripped-down authority of a traditional T-style guitar but wants considerably more muscle and modern playability, this used Luxxtone Choppa T takes a familiar working-player formula and pushes it into hot-rodded territory. Luxxtone guitars are built around the idea of combining vintage-inspired aesthetics with performance-minded construction, and this 2020 Choppa T wears that philosophy particularly well. A swamp ash body finished in medium-aged Butterscotch nitro gives it the appearance of a well-traveled instrument, while aged nickel hardware and an aged amber oil-finished maple neck reinforce its broken-in character.

The foundation remains deliberately familiar: swamp ash, a quartersawn maple neck and fingerboard, and a bolt-on T-style architecture. From there, Luxxtone reshapes the experience for a player accustomed to more contemporary instruments. The Vintage C neck measures 0.833" at the first fret and 0.921" at the twelfth, giving it meaningful substance without becoming excessively bulky, while the 10"-14" compound radius and 22 jumbo 6100 frets provide a progressively flatter playing surface for bending and upper-register lead work. A Luxxtone Chopped T four-screw bridge with brass saddles keeps the instrument connected to classic T-style construction while contributing its own distinctive appearance and feel.

Its HS pickup configuration is where the Choppa T moves decisively away from a conventional two-single-coil formula. The Arcane Ultratron bridge pickup supplies the bigger, more forceful voice of the pairing, giving the guitar the ingredients for muscular rhythm sounds, saturated leads, and harder-edged rock tones. At the neck, the 1967 Vintage Special provides a contrasting single-coil voice for cleaner passages, bluesier phrasing, and sounds that benefit from greater openness and articulation. Emerson potentiometers and an Oak Grigsby three-way selector provide straightforward control over the two pickups, with no coil splitting to complicate the signal path.

That combination makes this Choppa T particularly adaptable to rock, blues, roots rock, Americana, alternative, country rock, punk, and heavier styles where a traditional T-style bridge pickup might not provide enough weight. It preserves the immediacy and simplicity that made the original platform so effective while replacing strict vintage correctness with a more aggressive personality and player-focused specifications. The result is less a reproduction of an old guitar than a custom hot rod built from the same fundamental idea. This used Luxxtone Choppa T is available at Haggerty's Music and includes a hardshell case.
