The JHS Pedals 3 Series Ring Modulator is far more versatile than its simple layout suggests, covering everything from nearly invisible enhancement to full-on sonic destruction. With the Blend control low, it can add a faint shimmer or subtle movement beneath your clean tone, giving chords a gentle pulse and leads a slightly synthetic edge without overpowering your core sound. As you raise the Frequency control, the pedal moves through slow tremolo-like throbs, vocal warbles, and strange moving textures before reaching sharp, bell-like clangs and robotic metallic tones that cut through any mix. It can feel smooth and musical in one setting, then unpredictable and alien in the next.

Earworm mode is where the pedal becomes animated and expressive, using the Tweak control to add wobble, drift, and extra motion to the modulation. This creates seasick pulses, spinning sci-fi sweeps, broken-machine rhythms, and unstable textures that seem to breathe under your notes. Switch to Green Lantern mode and the character changes completely, blending in octave-like harmonics for brighter, more natural tones that can thicken solos, mimic vintage octave fuzz flavors, or become aggressive and snarling when pushed with gain.
