Some guitars are designed to fit into existing traditions. The Hagstrom Fantomen was built to create its own. Developed through a close collaboration between Hagstrom and the Swedish rock band Ghost, the Fantomen blends the company's decades of guitar-building expertise with a bold, unmistakable visual identity and a sonic range capable of everything from vintage-inspired warmth to crushing modern aggression. While its asymmetrical silhouette immediately commands attention, the Fantomen's design is rooted in substance as much as style. A solid mahogany body and long mortise-and-tenon set mahogany neck create a lively, resonant platform with exceptional sustain, while the 25.5" scale length adds extra snap and clarity compared to shorter-scale single-cut guitars. Hagstrom's patented H-Expander truss rod and remarkably stable Resinator composite fingerboard work together to provide outstanding neck stability, low playing action, and a fast, consistent feel across all 22 frets. The result is an instrument that feels equally at home delivering soaring lead work, intricate rhythm parts, or thunderous riffing.

At the heart of the Fantomen is a custom set of Lundgren-designed humbuckers, carefully voiced to offer an enormous tonal range. The AlNiCo 2 No. 2 neck pickup delivers warm, articulate cleans and singing lead tones, while the hotter AlNiCo 5 No. 5 bridge pickup provides tight low end, aggressive attack, and the dynamic response demanded by modern hard rock and metal players. Independent push-pull tone controls split each pickup into single-coil mode, dramatically expanding the guitar's versatility.
