The Gibson J-45 Special carries forward the legacy of one of the most celebrated acoustic guitars ever built while offering a fresh take on the legendary “Workhorse.” This USA-made acoustic delivers the warm, balanced voice and understated elegance that have made the J-45 a fixture on countless recordings for more than eight decades. Its slightly slimmer concert-depth body gives the guitar a comfortable, easy-playing feel while maintaining the unmistakable character that players have relied on for generations.
The combination of a solid Sitka spruce top and solid mahogany back and sides produces a rich, expressive tone that feels equally at home accompanying a vocalist, anchoring a band, or filling a room on its own. The bass response is focused and controlled, the midrange remains warm and present, and the highs carry a smooth sweetness that never feels harsh. This balance makes the J-45 Special remarkably versatile, responding beautifully to everything from delicate fingerpicking to aggressive strumming. The result is a guitar that sits naturally in a mix while still providing enough depth and projection to inspire solo performances.
Designed to be a dependable musical companion, the J-45 Special combines classic Gibson craftsmanship with modern practicality. The SlimTaper neck profile feels fast and comfortable, encouraging long playing sessions, while the satin nitrocellulose finish gives the instrument an inviting, broken-in feel right from the start. When it’s time to plug in, the L.R. Baggs Element Bronze system faithfully captures the guitar’s natural voice with warmth and clarity. Complete with a premium soft shell case, the Gibson J-45 Special delivers authentic American-made Gibson tone, exceptional playability, and timeless style in a package built for years of music-making. Available now at Haggerty’s Music.

Frequently Asked Questions

Yes. Every guitar that leaves our store has been professionally inspected, set up, and signed off by the technician who worked on it. You will find a signed checklist inside the box when your order arrives.
How accurate are your condition descriptions?
We treat condition grading as a contractual promise, not an approximation. When we list something as excellent, that reflects a specific, consistent standard we apply across every instrument.
