The Gibson Firebird Platypus pays homage to the rare transitional Firebird™ models of early 1965, featuring a unique Platypus-style headstock and a blend of classic and modern design elements. Built with a mahogany body and a glued-in SlimTaper™ mahogany neck, this guitar offers a smooth, fast-playing feel with outstanding sustain and resonance.

The rosewood fretboard features a 12" radius, 22 medium jumbo frets, and acrylic trapezoid inlays, delivering both comfort and vintage aesthetics. The Platypus-style headstock, with six-in-line Grover® Mini Rotomatic® tuners, has been slightly modified to provide straight string pull, reducing friction and enhancing tuning stability. The Aluminum Nashville Tune-O-Matic™ bridge and Aluminum Stop Bar tailpiece ensure precise intonation and rich sustain.

The Firebird Platypus is powered by two historically accurate Firebird mini humbuckers™ with Alnico 5 magnets, offering a bell-like chime when played clean and punchy rock and blues tones when driven. With individual volume and tone controls, players can shape their sound with precision. The iconic hot-stamped Firebird pickguard graphic completes the vintage aesthetic.
