This unique guitar pays tribute to the short-lived 1965 "Platypus" era, where Firebird designs began shifting from reverse to non-reverse headstocks. Featuring a bold, stylized silhouette with a sleek gloss Ebony finish, this model blends eye-catching vintage aesthetics with modern playability and reliability.

The Platypus features a solid mahogany body and a glued-in SlimTaper™ mahogany neck for exceptional resonance and fast, comfortable play. A rosewood fingerboard with trapezoid inlays and a 12" radius ensures smooth bends and articulate fretting across all 22 medium jumbo frets. The modified six-in-line Platypus-style headstock not only evokes retro charm but also enhances tuning stability with its straight string pull and Grover® Mini Rotomatic® tuners. Under the hood, a pair of Firebird mini humbuckers equipped with Alnico 5 magnets deliver articulate tone — chiming clean or gritty and aggressive when overdriven. Individual volume and tone knobs plus a 3-way switch give you precise tonal command. This distinctive guitar includes a Gibson hardshell case for top-tier protection.
