The Gibson Custom Shop 1955 NAMM Commemorative Edition Les Paul Standard in Samoa Beige celebrates a pivotal moment in Gibson history, honoring the five custom-colored Les Pauls displayed at the 1955 NAMM Show. This rare and exquisite reissue captures the spirit of those groundbreaking instruments, with every detail meticulously recreated—from the one-piece mahogany body to the hide-glue-fitted two-piece maple top, reflecting the construction methods that defined the Gibson Golden Era. Each guitar is limited to 70 pieces per color, making this a true collector’s piece for players and enthusiasts who value both historical significance and modern playability.
Featuring historically accurate 1955 specifications, the guitar showcases a chunky 1950s D-Shape neck with a long tenon, an Indian rosewood fretboard with 22 narrow/tall frets, and aged cellulose nitrate trapezoid inlays, all set on a 12” radius board for authentic feel and vintage accuracy. The Murphy Lab Light Aging treatment gives the nitrocellulose finish and hardware a lightly worn, period-correct look, emulating decades of gentle play while enhancing the instrument’s character and vibe. Classic appointments like the low-logo holly headstock veneer, nylon nut, and Kluson single-line tuners complete the retro aesthetic.
Electrically, the guitar is outfitted with a pair of cream-covered Custom Shop P-90 Soapbars, hand-wired to 500k CTS potentiometers and paper-in-oil capacitors, producing the dynamic, biting tone that made the original 1955 NAMM models legendary. The no-wire ABR-1 bridge and aluminum Stop Bar tailpiece, along with speed knobs color-matched to the body, maintain the vintage look while providing reliable performance. Whether played clean or through overdrive, the instrument delivers the warmth, clarity, and responsive attack that define a true classic Les Paul.
Every detail, from the matched cream appointments to the historic serial number and commemorative certificate, speaks to Gibson’s commitment to authenticity and craftsmanship. Packaged with a brown/pink Lifton five-latch hardshell case, this limited-edition Les Paul offers both a playable masterpiece and a tangible piece of music history, perfect for collectors, performers, and aficionados alike.
