The Gibson Custom Shop 1959 Les Paul Standard in Red Walnut is a meticulous recreation of one of the most revered electric guitar eras, built to capture the look, feel, and voice of a late-’50s burst while adding the precision of modern Custom Shop craftsmanship. The Red Walnut finish sits in a deep, dark red-brown range that lets the figured maple top subtly glow through the surface, giving it a layered, dark look. Finished in Vintage Original Sheen, it avoids modern gloss flash in favor of a more broken-in, understated elegance that feels immediately classic.

At its core, the guitar follows the iconic ’59 Les Paul blueprint: a lightweight one-piece mahogany body paired with a carved two-piece figured maple top. That combination delivers the familiar balance of warmth, midrange authority, and upper-end clarity that defined the original golden-era instruments. The carved maple adds just enough snap and definition to keep chords articulate, while the mahogany foundation keeps everything grounded, rich, and harmonically full. It’s a construction style that has become the benchmark for electric guitar tone for over half a century.

The neck is shaped in the Authentic ’59 Medium C profile, offering a substantial but comfortable feel that fills the hand without becoming bulky. Combined with the 12" radius rosewood fingerboard, 22 frets, and vintage-accurate construction details like the 1950s-style truss rod system, it delivers a playing experience that feels both familiar and intentionally period-correct. The nylon nut, Kluson Deluxe tuners, and ABR-1 bridge with stop bar tailpiece reinforce the vintage feel while maintaining stable, reliable performance.

Tonally, the Custombucker Alnico III pickups are voiced to reflect late-’50s humbucker character with clarity, warmth, and dynamic response. The neck pickup is round, vocal, and expressive, while the bridge pickup adds bite and presence without losing harmonic complexity. With traditional dual-volume and dual-tone controls and a 3-way toggle, the layout stays true to the original design philosophy—simple, responsive, and deeply musical. Available at Haggerty’s Music, this Custom Shop ’59 Les Paul in Red Walnut stands as a refined expression of Gibson’s most iconic era, blending dark figured beauty with unmistakable vintage tone and feel.

Frequently Asked Questions

Yes. Every guitar that leaves our store has been professionally inspected, set up, and signed off by the technician who worked on it. You will find a signed checklist inside the box when your order arrives.

How accurate are your condition descriptions?
