Developed in collaboration with Darkglass Electronics, the Ernie Ball Music Man DarkRay 5 pushes the iconic StingRay platform into bold new sonic territory. Combining the unmistakable punch and clarity of a StingRay Special with Darkglass’s renowned bass circuitry, the DarkRay 5 delivers everything from pristine modern tones to aggressive distortion and fuzz all at the flip of a switch. Its lightweight contoured body, roasted maple neck, and neodymium humbucking pickup provide the fast feel, powerful output, and unmistakable response players expect from a premium Music Man bass.

At the heart of the DarkRay 5 is a custom-designed Darkglass 2-band active preamp featuring three selectable modes: Clean, Alpha distortion, and Omega fuzz. Independent gain and blend controls allow players to dial in everything from subtle grit to full-on saturated drive while preserving low-end clarity and punch. A color-coded LED ring and intuitive 3-way selector switch make switching between tones quick and effortless, giving bassists an incredibly versatile tonal palette suited for studio sessions, live performance, and modern heavy music applications.

Beyond its innovative electronics, the DarkRay 5 remains true to the StingRay legacy with premium appointments throughout.
