Some instruments honor tradition, while others redefine it with a bold new personality. Available now at Haggerty's Music, the Deering Goodtime Blackgrass Special takes one of America's most beloved banjos and gives it a striking modern aesthetic without sacrificing the craftsmanship and tone that have made Deering an industry leader. Built entirely in Deering's San Diego, California factory, this unique five-string banjo blends the familiar feel of the Goodtime series with upgraded appointments, a powerful steel tone ring, and an unmistakable all-black appearance that stands out on any stage.
Constructed around Deering's renowned three-ply violin-grade maple rim and equipped with the patented Goodtime Special steel tone ring, the Blackgrass Special delivers greater volume, richer sustain, and enhanced clarity than the standard Goodtime models. The rock maple neck features a comfortable slender "D" profile, a Midnight Maple fingerboard adorned with elegant Artisan-style pearloid inlays, and a satin black finish that perfectly complements the matte black hardware and black high-crown head. Factory-installed fifth-string railroad spikes at the 7th, 9th, and 10th frets make key changes quick and effortless, allowing players to move seamlessly from G into A, B, and C for bluegrass jams, gospel, folk, and traditional performances.
Every detail reflects Deering's commitment to practical performance and American craftsmanship. Goodtime planetary tuners, the patented Goodtime tailpiece, Smile bridge, two-piece flange, and geared fifth-string tuner provide dependable tuning stability and excellent projection, while the resonator adds the punch and focus players expect from a professional-style bluegrass banjo. Whether you're an experienced picker looking for a lightweight performance instrument or a developing player ready to step up to an American-made banjo with exceptional tone and distinctive style, the Deering Goodtime Blackgrass Special delivers outstanding playability, premium construction, and eye-catching looks.

How accurate are your condition descriptions?
