The BOSS EX-4 is the kind of pedalboard addition that can completely expand what your existing rig is capable of without asking you to rebuild it from the ground up. With 120 BOSS effects covering everything from overdrive and distortion to modulation, delay, reverb, bass-focused effects, Slow Gear, Slicer, and more, it gives you an enormous palette of sounds in a compact footprint. You can run up to four effects at once, arrange them in series or parallel, and even bring external pedals into the chain through the flexible effects loop, making the EX-4 feel less like another pedal and more like a creative command center for your board.

The interface keeps all of that flexibility surprisingly approachable, with a 2.4-inch color display, dedicated FX buttons, intuitive controls, and BOSS's Gear Suite feature for quickly dialing in professionally tuned starting points. Dual multi-function footswitches with color LEDs can be assigned to everything from individual effect blocks and tap tempo to preset changes and parameter control, while the global EQ gives you an easy way to shape the overall sound of your rig. Manual and Memory modes let you use it like a traditional stompbox setup or build complete presets, with 128 preset memories for guitar and bass plus 128 user memories for your own sounds.

The EX-4 is especially useful for players who want a lot of flexibility without filling an entire pedalboard with specialized boxes. Stereo or mono operation, external footswitch and expression control, TRS MIDI connectivity, and sophisticated wet/dry and routing options make it equally at home onstage or in the studio, while seamless memory changes can preserve delay and reverb tails in certain configurations.
