The Powers Electric A-Type is a bold reimagining of what an electric guitar can be, born from the vibrant creative culture of San Diego — a city where surf, skate, automotive design, and music intersect. Designed by Andy Powers (of Taylor Guitars fame), this model reflects a visionary approach to electric guitar construction. The trussed hollow body keeps things incredibly lightweight while maintaining exceptional resonance and feedback resistance. At the heart of the A-Type is a pair of FF42 pickups — Powers Electric’s proprietary single-coil design — offering wide-spectrum clarity, warmth, and incredible dynamic sensitivity.

This particular A-Type model features a beautifully figured solid maple top on an urban ash body, finished in a stunning Casablanca Beige on the top and Black Metallic on the back and sides. The one-piece mahogany neck is topped with a Honduran rosewood fingerboard, featuring 21 jumbo frets and Powers' signature Twin Arch Italian acrylic inlays. The asymmetrical fretboard radius ensures effortless playability across the neck, ideal for expressive bends and consistent tone. The neck carve — Powers’ own spec — feels comfortably fast yet substantial, with a natural satin feel that gets out of your way.

The custom-designed CamTail vibrato system is a standout feature: a camshaft-based tailpiece that ensures tuning stability even under aggressive use, all while maintaining a smooth and musical response.
