This Martin J-15 brings a different kind of character to the traditional Martin acoustic, pairing the big, room-filling presence of a jumbo body with the warmth and woody response of an all-mahogany construction. The solid mahogany top, back, and sides give it a focused, balanced voice with strong mids, a rounded low end, and a naturally sweet response that works beautifully for strumming and singer-songwriter playing. The satin Natural finish keeps the feel understated and comfortable, while the Herringbone rosette and tortoise pickguard add just enough vintage-inspired detail to give the guitar plenty of personality.
The 25.4-inch scale and comfortable C-shaped mahogany neck provide the familiar Martin feel, with a rosewood fingerboard and Style 28 mother-of-pearl dots giving the neck a clean, classic appearance. The radius and nut width make it easy to move around the neck, while the dovetail neck joint and solid construction provide the resonance and stability you expect from a traditional Martin. With no electronics to get in the way, the guitar's acoustic voice takes center stage, responding naturally to everything from a light touch to a strong pick attack.
This model is particularly interesting for Martin collectors and players who appreciate guitars that have been discontinued from the company's current lineup. This jumbo is no longer in production, making examples like this increasingly uncommon. From the rosewood bridge and headstock overlay to the three-per-side chrome tuners and classic appointments, it has the understated character of a Martin built for making music rather than following trends. For anyone looking for a rare, older Martin with a warm all-mahogany voice and substantial jumbo presence, this is a special find. Available now at Haggerty's Music.
