Few acoustic guitars carry the prestige and unmistakable presence of the SJ-200. Introduced by Gibson in 1937 and affectionately known as the "King of the Flat-Tops," the model quickly became the instrument of choice for artists spanning country, folk, rock, and Americana. In collaboration with Gibson Custom, Epiphone faithfully recreates one of the most desirable post-war versions with the 1957 SJ-200 Reissue, bringing vintage-inspired craftsmanship, premium materials, and authentic styling within reach of today's musicians. From its thermally aged tonewoods to its historically accurate appointments, this guitar captures the spirit of a golden era while offering the reliability modern players demand.
Built with all-solid tonewoods, this reissue pairs a thermally aged Sitka spruce top with beautifully figured solid maple back and sides to deliver the commanding projection, sparkling articulation, and rich harmonic complexity that have defined the SJ-200 for generations. The two-piece flame maple neck with walnut center stringer provides exceptional stability, while the comfortable C-profile and bound Indian rosewood fingerboard make long sessions effortless. Whether you're accompanying vocals, recording layered acoustic tracks, or commanding the stage with full-band arrangements, the SJ-200's bold voice offers powerful bass response, shimmering highs, and remarkable clarity that fills any room with ease.
Ready for both stage and studio, the factory-installed LR Baggs Element Bronze VTC pickup system faithfully reproduces the guitar's natural acoustic character through any amplifier or PA system with discreet soundhole-mounted controls. Vintage-correct details, including the engraved SJ-200 pickguard, open-book headstock, graduated crown inlays, and rosewood two-bar Moustache bridge, complete the experience, while the included Red Line-inspired hardshell case with Inspired by Gibson Custom graphics ensures this exceptional instrument is protected wherever your musical journey takes you.
