The Gibson SG Gothic was part of a short-lived line released between 2000 and 2003 to offer a darker, edgier alternative to the classic SG — and this 2002 SG Gothic delivers that vibe with a solid Honduran mahogany body, ebony fingerboard, and matte nitrocellulose finish that give it a sleek, no-frills aesthetic built for rock and metal. Its set-neck construction, 22-fret ebony fingerboard with a 12” radius, and ’50s Rounded-style mahogany neck combine for the signature SG playability: fast neck feel, low action potential, and punchy sustain that’s as suitable for rhythm chugs as it is for soaring solo work.
