For the guitar’s 100th anniversary, Gibson has reimagined this iconic model with precision, elegance, and uncompromising craftsmanship, producing only 100 individually numbered instruments at their Custom Shop in Bozeman, Montana.

Played by icons such as Keith Richards and Jeff Buckley, the L-1 is perhaps most famously associated with blues legend Robert Johnson, as the L-1’s distinct 12-fret design, compact body shape, and tonal richness made it a favorite among early 20th-century fingerstyle and Delta blues musicians. This commemorative edition honors that spirit with thermally aged red spruce top, solid mahogany back and sides, and a short-scale 12-fret Historic V-profile neck, delivering a warm, woody voice with focused projection and remarkable sensitivity.
