Faithfully recreated with stunning vintage accuracy and tone, the Gibson Custom Shop 1964 ES-335 Reissue in Viking Red Gloss delivers a masterclass in semi-hollow craftsmanship and sonic versatility. Built by the expert luthiers at Gibson’s Custom Shop, this meticulously researched Historic Reissue brings every nuance of the original 1964 model into the present — capturing the spirit, feel, and tone of one of Gibson’s most iconic instruments.
The 3-ply maple/poplar/maple body is paired with a solid maple centerblock for a perfect balance of warmth and feedback control. Sharp horn cutaways and authentic single-ply top and back binding complete the classic silhouette, while the stunning Viking Red gloss finish adds a bold modern flair.
The mahogany neck features a scanned Authentic '64 Medium C profile (.890" at the 1st fret, .970" at the 12th), joined to the body with a long tenon hide glue neck joint for optimal resonance and sustain. Topped with a 12" radius Indian rosewood fingerboard fitted with small block cellulose nitrate inlays, this neck delivers exceptional comfort and vintage-correct aesthetics. The rolled fingerboard binding enhances the well-worn feel that players love in true vintage instruments.
Loaded with a pair of Custombuckers, this ES-335 Reissue delivers the rich harmonic complexity, bloom, and punch that define classic Gibson tone. Whether clean or overdriven, these pickups provide the touch sensitivity and articulation that made the ES-335 a legend. Vintage-inspired hardware includes an ABR-1 bridge, lightweight aluminum stopbar tailpiece, and Kluson double-ring tuners, all in nickel finish.
Handcrafted in the USA and housed in a Gibson Custom Shop hardshell case, this is a true collector-grade instrument that’s built to perform — available now at Haggerty’s Music.
