The Gibson Custom Eric Clapton 1958 Les Paul is a remarkable recreation of one of the most storied guitars in rock history, built to honor both Eric Clapton’s legendary career and his famed 1958 Les Paul Custom. Clapton used the original guitar throughout his time with Cream, Delaney & Bonnie, and beyond, shaping the sound of modern blues and rock. Decades later, after gifting the guitar to Albert Lee, it remains a symbol of musical excellence and inspiration. Gibson’s Custom Shop and Murphy Lab have faithfully captured every nuance of Clapton’s original instrument, from its tonal complexity to the aging that mirrors years of stage and studio use.

This limited-edition model features an ultra-lightweight, one-piece mahogany body and a mahogany neck topped with an ebony fretboard adorned with mother-of-pearl block inlays. Its hand-applied Murphy Lab aged nitrocellulose finish and historically accurate long-tenon neck construction ensure vintage-correct resonance and authenticity. The 1950s Medium C neck profile offers a familiar, fluid feel that’s both fast and substantial, while the nylon nut and 12-inch fingerboard radius deliver perfect playability and comfort.

Powering the guitar are three unpotted Custombuckers modeled after the exact specifications of Clapton’s original pickups, with the middle pickup oriented toward the neck to replicate the unique wiring of the 1958 Custom. Each pickup is hand-wired with CTS 500k audio taper pots and paper-in-oil capacitors for a truly vintage tonal response. The gold-plated hardware, Grover Milk Bottle tuners, ABR-1 bridge, and lightweight aluminum stop bar tailpiece all contribute to its stunning aesthetic and period-correct performance.

Only 150 of these guitars exist worldwide, making each one a coveted piece of history. Every instrument comes housed in a Custom Duck Brothers case and includes a signed extra pickguard from both Eric Clapton and Albert Lee, a Certificate of Authenticity, a black leather strap, and collectible memorabilia.
