The ESP LTD Andy LaRocque ALR-II is a signature instrument built for one of heavy metal’s most respected and technically accomplished guitarists. Andy LaRocque, best known for his legendary work with King Diamond, has long been admired for his intricate solos, dark melodic phrasing, and neoclassical influences. His playing blends blazing speed with precision and musicality, and the ALR-II is designed to deliver the performance, stability, and tonal versatility required for that demanding style. Based on ESP’s sleek Horizon body shape, this model reflects LaRocque’s decades of experience both on stage and in the studio.

At the core of the ALR-II is a neck-thru-body construction, which enhances sustain and allows seamless access to the upper frets — an essential feature for technical lead work. The combination of a mahogany body and quilted maple top offers a balanced tonal platform, with the mahogany delivering warmth and depth while the maple adds articulation and attack. A Macassar ebony fingerboard with a compound radius and extra-jumbo stainless steel frets provides a fast, smooth playing surface that encourages fluid legato runs, wide bends, and precise picking techniques. Luminlay side markers ensure visibility on dark stages, making this guitar ready for professional touring environments.

Electronics on the ALR-II are tailored for powerful, articulate metal tones.
