Born from Billy's deep appreciation for his vintage 1940 D-28 and refined through his partnership with Martin, this guitar embodies the spirit of traditional bluegrass while offering the modern enhancements needed for today’s fast-paced acoustic performances. Its shortened 25" scale length and wider nut spacing enhance playability, especially for flatpicking, intricate fingerstyle work, and fast-paced lead lines, making it a versatile choice for bluegrass, folk, Americana, and acoustic rock players alike.

Tonally, this Dreadnought delivers the deep, booming lows and clear, articulate highs that have made the D-28 iconic, all thanks to its solid spruce top and East Indian rosewood back and sides, supported by forward-shifted, scalloped X-bracing for improved resonance and projection. A satin-finished Modified Low Oval neck with a Standard Taper ensures a broken-in feel right out of the case, while the bold herringbone trim and abalone inlays add vintage elegance. This used model comes upgraded with an under-bridge pickup, making it stage- and studio-ready. Each guitar also includes a custom label featuring Billy’s signature and graphic, adding collectability to its performance-driven build.
