History, craftsmanship and deep, rich tone all collide in one rare, compact package. The Martin 000-18 1955 CFM IV 70th Acoustic Guitar celebrates sixth-generation Martin executive Chris Martin IV’s 70th birthday with a faithful tribute to a mid-century classic. Drawing inspiration from an original 1955 000-18, this limited-edition model — only 70 made worldwide! — pairs authentic vintage styling with sustainably sourced tonewoods. The top is crafted from reclaimed spruce, sourced from old-growth Alaskan trees, bridges, and barge ramps, lending both historical significance and a unique tonal character. Mahogany back and sides deliver warm midrange tones with bright, defined trebles, while the non-scalloped Sitka spruce X-bracing produces a balanced and articulate voice.
The FSC-certified rosewood fingerboard features 1955 Style 18 mother-of-pearl dot inlays, and the satin select hardwood neck sports a GE Modified Low Oval profile for a comfortable, vintage-inspired feel. Completing the look are vintage-style Kluson Waffleback nickel tuners, a faux tortoise pickguard and binding, and aged top detailing that captures the essence of the original 1955 model. Each guitar is hand-signed by Chris Martin IV and comes in a premium hardshell case, along with a numbered paper label marking its place in this historic limited run. Available now at Haggerty’s Music.
