Crafted to channel the rich legacy of Gibson’s square-shoulder acoustics, the 1963 Country Western Murphy Lab Heavy Aged is a masterfully recreated vintage icon — available now at Haggerty’s Music. Based on the sought-after Country Western model introduced in 1955 and transitioned to a square-shoulder shape in 1962, this reissue brings all the vintage tone, aesthetic, and mojo of an original. Hand-built with a thermally aged Sitka spruce top and solid mahogany back and sides, this guitar is voiced with traditional hand-scalloped X-bracing for vibrant, punchy projection and warm, woody mids.

The neck features a round profile and a bound Indian rosewood fingerboard with mother-of-pearl parallelogram inlays, perfectly suited to players who demand both comfort and vintage styling. Appointments like the aged tortoise Country Western pickguard, bone nut and saddle, and Gotoh tuners with white buttons offer authentic vintage character. The Murphy Lab’s Heavy Aging process provides the look and feel of a guitar that’s been lovingly played for decades, complete with dramatic lacquer checking, arm wear, and buckle rash. Each guitar includes a certificate of authenticity and a period-correct black hardshell case with goldenrod interior.
