The Gibson Les Paul Custom 70s brings back one of the most celebrated eras in Gibson history — when design innovation met timeless style. Originally introduced in 1953 as an upscale version of the Les Paul Standard, the Les Paul Custom was envisioned by Les Paul himself as a sleek, black “tuxedo” guitar. Over time, it evolved into one of Gibson’s most iconic instruments, defining an era of rock, soul, and jazz.

Reimagined for the modern player yet steeped in 1970s heritage, this latest Les Paul Custom 70s captures the spirit and specifications of those sought-after vintage models. The guitar features a mahogany body topped with a three-piece maple top, providing balanced warmth, clarity, and sustain. Its three-piece maple neck sports a comfortable 70s-style profile with a volute reinforcement, topped with a bound ebony fretboard and 22 medium-jumbo frets adorned with mother-of-pearl block inlays.

Visually, it’s unmistakably a Custom — complete with five-ply top binding, three-ply back binding, and the legendary split-diamond headstock inlay from the Gibson Super 400.

The hardware and electronics are authentically 1970s-inspired as well, including gold hardware, Grover Rotomatic Keystone tuners, an aluminum Nashville Tune-O-Matic bridge with Stop Bar tailpiece, and Calibrated T-Type humbuckers hand-wired with Orange Drop capacitors for era-correct tone and dynamics.
