If you’re the kind of player who values classic tone and unmistakable vintage style, this 1970's Rickenbacker 4001 delivers the iconic sound and craftsmanship that has made it the instrument of choice for bassists such as Geddy Lee, Kim Gordon and Geezer Butler. This original vintage instrument comes finished in a rare and vibrant Burgundy gloss with matching headstock and includes the original hardshell case. Whether you're a collector, studio musician, or live performer, this Rickenbacker offers the unmistakable sound and feel that helped define rock and progressive music in the 1970s.
Built in the U.S.A., this 4001 features a bound maple body and a bound maple/walnut neck topped with a rosewood fingerboard adorned with triangle pearloid inlays. The 33.25" scale length and 1 11/16” nut width provide comfortable spacing, while the dual single-coil pickups — wired to Rickenbacker’s classic Rick-O-Sound stereo output in addition to the standard mono jack — offer the articulate midrange, singing sustain, and harmonic richness that have made this bass a mainstay in professional rigs. The iconic open-gear tuners, 3-way pickup selector, and dual volume/tone controls round out its versatile hardware setup. Now available at Haggerty’s Music in very good condition for its considerable age, this bass is a rare find for tone chasers and collectors alike.
