When you're ready to take the stage or studio with legendary tone and pro-level versatility, this vintage MSA Classic D-10 Pedal Steel from the mid-1970s delivers exceptional performance, craftsmanship, and character — and it's available now at Haggerty's Music in Rapid City, SD. According to MSA’s Scott Anderson, this instrument was originally built as stock for Chicago Music on July 19, 1974, giving it documented provenance that makes it even more special. Featuring a double 10-string neck configuration (E9 and C6), 7 pedals, and 4 knee levers, this beautifully built steel guitar is housed in a striking woodgrain mica body with polished aluminum trim. It includes its original hardshell case, an assortment of tone bars and finger picks, and a functional aftermarket volume pedal — a complete setup for seasoned players or collectors.
This MSA Classic reflects the golden era of steel guitar manufacturing, with stable all-pull mechanics, smooth pedal action, and dual MSA-style pickups offering excellent tonal response. A 3-way toggle switch mounted between the necks allows the player to select either neck or both simultaneously, providing performance flexibility. The onboard volume and tone knobs give real-time control without needing an external pedal setup. While one of the original 8 pedals is absent, the current 7-pedal configuration is fully functional and performance-ready. With classic Kluson Deluxe tuners and MSA’s renowned build quality, this steel is ready to deliver stage-worthy tone and precision.
