The Ibanez RG550BK, now at Haggerty’s Music, is a Japanese-made electric guitar that combines exceptional playability with versatile tonal capabilities. Part of the RG Genesis Collection, it pays tribute to the original 1987 RG550 model while incorporating modern enhancements. The guitar features a basswood body, providing a balanced tonal foundation and a comfortable, contoured shape. Its 5-piece Super Wizard neck, crafted from maple and walnut, offers remarkable stability and a slim profile ideal for fast playing. The maple fingerboard delivers bright, articulate tones, highlighted by black dot inlays, and is fitted with 24 jumbo frets for effortless bending and soloing.

With a scale length of 25.5 inches, the RG550BK provides a familiar feel, and its Ibanez Edge locking tremolo system ensures tuning stability during rigorous performances. The HSH pickup configuration includes a V7 humbucker at the neck (passive/ceramic), an S1 single-coil in the middle (passive/alnico), and a V8 humbucker at the bridge (passive/alnico), offering a wide range of tonal possibilities. Controls include a master volume, master tone, and a 5-way pickup selector for precise sound shaping.
