Carrie's love for music began at an early age with piano lessons from her grandmother. In the seventh grade orchestra she began playing the double bass and has never looked back.

Carrie has been playing in symphony orchestras, chamber ensembles and symphonic bands for thirteen years. In addition to playing Carrie enjoys teaching the double bass. Carrie has a Bachelor of Arts with a music emphasis from Washburn University in Topeka, Kansas and currently plays in the Black Hills Symphony Orchestra and with the Dakota Choral Union.

Ingrid Lane

Ingrid Lane began playing violin at four years old with the Black Hills Suzuki School. She attended St. John's College and Johns Hopkins University where she studied violin at Peabody Conservatory with Melina Gajger. Ingrid pursued a Masters in Composition and Pedagogy at UNM with violinist Carmelo de los Santos, Susan Kempter, and composer Falko Steinbach. She has performed with bands in SXSW, NYC and LA.

Ingrid has formally taught violin in New Mexico and Kalimpong India. Her students have gone on to play in the Symphony and win regional solo competitions. Ingrid is a M.S candidate in biomedical engineering. She plays with the BH Symphony, bluegrass and jazz bands.

Teaching is a wonderful way to pause from research and return to her love for music.
