This used Martin will ship insured, fully set up, and inspected from Rapid City, SD. In good condition, this acoustic sports some scratches and dings across the body and pickguard. Its action is good above the 5th fret for any standard guitar playing, but playing any higher may be difficult. With a slightly bowed neck, a neck reset is recommended as there is no truss rod. A hardshell case is included, worn and missing its handle.

This 1962 Martin D-18 stands as a fine example of one of Martin’s most enduring and beloved dreadnought designs, built during the company’s last pre-adjustable truss rod era. Its solid Sitka spruce top and Honduran mahogany back and sides deliver the dry, woody character that defines vintage D-18 tone—focused mids, articulate trebles, and a balanced low end that sits perfectly in any mix. The rear-shifted, non-scalloped X-bracing contributes to its clarity and projection, while the tortoise celluloid binding and teardrop pickguard lend a timeless, understated aesthetic. Every inch of this guitar reflects the hand-built craftsmanship of early 1960s Nazareth, Pennsylvania, when Martin still relied on traditional materials and techniques passed down for generations.
The mahogany neck features a comfortable low “C” profile with a Brazilian rosewood fingerboard and simple mother-of-pearl dot inlays, offering a familiar vintage feel with effortless playability. As was standard for the time, there’s no adjustable truss rod—only a solid T-bar reinforcement running through the neck, preserving both tone and structural integrity. Modern updates include a set of gold Grover closed-back tuners and aged white bridge pins, but the spirit of this D-18 remains authentic and intact. With its warm, resonant voice, this D-18 embodies the sound and soul of Martin’s golden era—a working musician’s instrument that has only grown more expressive with time.
